Brady's Birthday

We've been busy enjoying fall.  Brady turned one on Oct. 9th, and we had lot so of celebrating because of it.  We took part in a big one year birthday with our mom's group, I think we ended up with 15 families.  It was pretty cute to see how much our little ones have grown over the year, and we had fun celebrating the survival of our first year of parenting.  Here are a few pictures:

We also had a great party with family and friends, Brady is so lucky to be surrounded by such love in his life:

The Boy Who Eats Everything

Brady typically shoves just about anything we feed him into his mouth. We tried quinoa recently, take a look at his reaction:

Wrapping up the summer

We finished up summer with a great Labor Day weekend at the beach with friends and family. Brady's Portland girlfriend, Sophia, was there and as you can see from below, Brady spent some time stealing food from her (what a guy):

Brady also visited daddy at work and had an impromptu guest appearance on the noon show:

Brady turned 11 months this weekend. His favorite toys are his stacking/nesting cups, his walker, the dishwasher, and recycling (and Clyde's water and food bowls if he can get his hands on them). He is cruising along the edge of everything and is just starting to almost stand on his own. Big business in this house! Next week he will be the ring bearer in his Uncle Pete and Aunt Allison's wedding-should be fun!

10 Months!

Brady is now ten months! Time continues to fly, and we've been having a busy, fun summer packed with lots of activities! Brady is crawling all over, has two teeth, loves opening cabinets, doors, and drawers. He is getting lots of pool and beach time, hiking in the gorge,
and continues to eat almost everything in sight. However, we finally found something he doesn't like: quinoa! Check out this video of him trying it for the first time, as well as some of the latest pics of our summer fun.

He's on the Move!

Brady-man decided to finally put the pieces together and start crawling a few days ago. Here is a quick snip of him in action:

We had another great beach weekend with the fam. They even took care of Brady Friday night so Nick and I could sneak away to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. It was sooooo relaxing-we were both ready for a night sans baby. It my the first time we left him with others overnight and it was a big success. I think we should do that more often (Aunt Brenda, you ready?)...!

Central Oregon Trip

We spent the last 10 days of June on the road in Central Oregon. Turns out traveling with a baby isn't so much of a vacation as it used to be. We are now calling our travels "trips" instead. :). All kidding aside (actually we aren't kidding about that), we had a great time and Brady was a good little traveler.
We spent the first half of the trip at Black Butte Ranch. We were there to help celebrate the wedding of our close friends, Brian and Katherine. We even had a sitter so we were able to enjoy the day sans baby! It was a great party! While at Black Butte we also did some bike riding and swimming, it was really pretty despite the lack of sun :).

After leaving BBR, we headed northeast to Kah-nee-ta Resort for a five day family reunion with 110 of our closet Curran relatives. Kah-nee-ta was the perfect place for our TRI-annual reunion. So many fun activities on-site, like hiking, kayaking, swimming, golf, horse back riding, and so much more. We had several meals together as a family and spent lots of time visiting and catching up. Brady was able to meet many of his family members for the first time-it was fun to introduce him to everyone. Here are a few shots from the week.

All in all, it was a fantastic trip with great friends and family. We were ready to head home after the ten days away, even though Brady and I turned around and left town for the beach two days later! More on that another time...

We have a nine month old?

Brady is officially nine months as of yesterday-wow!

He had his check up this afternoon and passed with flying colors. He remains a skinny-little-minnie but is healthy and growing like a weed. Poor little guy had to get some blood drawn. He wasn't too happy about it at first but calmed down within a few seconds of having it done. He passed out on the ride home, as he was past his nap time and I'm sure the appointment took it out of him. Here is a shot of his little bandaged arm from the blood draw, seconds before falling asleep.

What a great nine months we've had with Brady-Boy. His current favorites include: standing, trying to cruise along couches and tables, playing the "coffee table game" (throwing magazines, books, coasters, etc on the floor one at a time), and eating any and everything we put in front of him. He's also starting to wave and is overall just a happy, smiley baby. We love you, little nugget!

A Weekend of Firsts

Last weekend we headed out to the beach for Brady's first 'summer' weekend. In typical June fashion, we had a few hours of sun followed by a cool, wet and windy rest of the weekend. Luckily we were able to take Brady down to the beach to dip his toes in the water. He (mostly) loved it!

YouTube Video

We also celebrated Nick's first father's day. Our parents were there to enjoy it with us. I think our dad's enjoyed being grandpas for Father's Day, too.

Brady is starting to move more and more. He seems close to crawling but really only wants to stand up these days. He is loving bath time where he gets to splash, kick, and belly laugh like an old man. He is really fun to hang around right now-his little personality is coming out.

We headed out for a ten day trip to Central Oregon a few days ago, but more on that later...

Will he or won't he...?

Just a quick post to share a cute story. This morning, as Brady and I were hanging out, I popped on the tv in time to catch one of Nick's cut-ins. I wanted to see if Brady would recognize Nick on air either by voice or sight. I tried this about a month ago and he didn't seem to notice anything. Today was a different story.
Check out the video below to see what happens.

Sunday Funday

Today was lots of fun in the Allard house. We spent the morning at the Dove-Lewis 5k, which Nick hosted to help raise money for the animal hospital. Our good friends, Carrie, Kevin, Sophia (Brady's Portland lady), and their dog Winston, joined us for the race and brunch out after. We spent the afternoon watching Brady try to crawl around the carpet. He is really into his new 'music shakers' which I made out of old pill bottles and rice (yes, he looks like an addict rolling around the floor playing with them). The day was capped off with Nick putting gel in Brady's hair up. Pretty sweet little Sunday if you ask me.

Brady is 8 Months!

Our happy little nugget turned 8 months today!

He celebrated by figuring out how to pull himself forward on the hardwoods (hasn't quite figured it out on the carpet!). Here is a quick snippet of him doing so:

YouTube Video

His current favorites include: eating ANYTHING in front of him (or whatever you are eating-he will stalk you while you eat in hopes of getting a bite or two), standing up, and hamming it up to anyone he meets out in public.

Happy 8 months little man!

Seattle Visit

After Brenda and Paul's wedding, Brady and mama stuck around Seattle for a week. Brady had fun touring the aquarium with his girlfriend, Aleena, figured out how to scoot backwards while sitting up, played on the swings at Greenlake, and partied hard out at Lyndsey's birthday celebration (so hard he passed out in Brian's arms). Oh, he started babbling and his first tooth started peeking through, too! It was a big week! We had a great visit but are happy to be back home with daddy and Clyde :)
